Brunson adds honors to standout career after named Third-Team All-American
NAIA Women's Soccer All-American Team
After a dominant performance on the pitch, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Kaitlyn Brunson to the NAIA All-American Third-Team Monday. Brunson is the first third-team back-to-back recipient in women's soccer history. The last back-to-back recipient came in 2009 and 2010 in the 2024 Hall of Fame honoree, Ashley Dexter. Dexter was selected as a NAIA All-American Honorable Mention both seasons.
The senior forward was named a Third-Team All-American selection last season (2023) and a recipient of All-American honorable mention the season prior (2022).
The native of Marion, Iowa has been outstanding for the Bees this season. She has been recognized as the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) women's soccer Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year. Those awards backed Brunson being named first-team all-conference. Her resume off the field is just as impressive to earn her a spot on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) All-District Academic team and the First-Team Academic All-America team. Similarly, Brunson was named to the CCAC All-Academic team and as a NAIA Scholar-Athlete.
Brunson led the way for the Bees offensively for the Bees this season with 15 goals and nine assists, six of those goals were recorded as game-winners. Those goals and assists totaled for 39 points on the season. The senior started 22-of-the-23 games this season and was perfect from the spot as she converted all four pk attempts.
St. Ambrose was crowned as the CCAC women's soccer regular-season champions and as the CCAC women's soccer tournament champions. The Bees fought their way to the NAIA Second Round for the first time since 2015.
