CSC Academic All-America Women's Soccer Team
Senior Kaitlyn Brunson has been named to the Academic All-America first-team for the second year straight after her prestigious efforts both in the classroom and on the pitch. Her efforts were recognized by College Sports Communicators (CSC) earlier today. Brunson was only one of 14 student-athletes selected to the first-team.
To be recognized for this honor, student-athletes must at least be a full-time sophomore student, carry at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, and compete in 90% of the institutions matches or start in 66% of those matches. Eligible nominees must be a combined standout student-athlete both in the classroom and on the field.
The back-to-back first-team Academic All-America selection hails from Marion, Iowa to add hardware to her outstanding collegiate career. Academically, Brunson was named to the CSC All-District team earlier this season after she was selected to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) All-Academic Team and named a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Scholar-Athlete. On the pitch, Brunson dominated as she was named the CCAC Player of the Year, the CCAC Offensive Player of the Year, and a first-team CCAC all-conference selection. The midfielder accumulated 39 total points this season as she scored 15 goals and tabbed nine assists. Six of Brunson's goals were game-winners for the Bees. Brunson's impressive resume helped the Bees qualify for the NAIA National Tournament back-to-back years. SAU advanced to the second round for the first time since 2015.
Off the field, Brunson upholds a 3.89 GPA while obtaining a degree in Marketing and Management.
