SAU looks to make deep run into the postseason
St. Ambrose dominated over the Mighty Oaks from Oakland City (Ind.) yesterday even with a 5-0 decision in Spring Arbor, Mich. With that win, the Bees move into the second round of the NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament. SAU will take on the Cougars of Spring Arbor tomorrow at 12 p.m. CST. Kickoff is set at Cougar Soccer Complex. Live video and stats will be available at saubees.com.
St. Ambrose heads into this match with a 15-5-2 overall record. A 12 game win-streak propelled the Bees to this game in the second round of the NAIA National Championship. With a win, SAU will head south to Pensacola, Fla. for the National Championship site.
SAU will rely heavily on experience as they have found themselves in the NAIA opening rounds in prior seasons (2008, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2021, and 2023). 2015 was the last time St. Ambrose advanced to the second round of the tournament.
The Cougars of Spring Arbor will be a new opponent for SAU as these two sides have never matched up across from one another before. Spring Arbor enters the match with a 16-3 season record after they won the Crossroads League Tournament Championship. The Cougars boast the most championship wins with 37 out of the entire NAIA Tournament field.
