Brunson scores the late equalizer to find her first goal of the season

The Bees traveled south to Canton, Mo. as they visited Culver-Stockon College this evening. St. Ambrose should have found the equalizer on a late corner kick that found the top of the crossbar but the Wildcats goalie recovered the deflection. Kaitlyn Brunson would tuck away a last minute penalty kick to find the second goal for St. Ambrose. A competitive yet physical match throughout showed the Wildcats and the Bees end at 2-2.

St. Ambrose started the match ready to go by pressuring the Wildcats defense and double teaming Culver-Stockon any chance they got. The Bees were dangerous in their offensive attacking third as they created goal scoring chances early in the game. Kaitlyn Brunson had a laser on frame to create chaos in the box as Isabella Crawford and Malu Garuba Coelho would collect the rebound to knock the ball on frame for the Bees to cause the Wildcat's goalie to step up. Those three chances were arguably the best of the half for SAU.

Culver-Stockton would get on the board first in the 17th minute after withstanding the pressure from SAU. St.Ambrose would gather momentum going forward as Crawford put her name on a loose ball and punched in her only goal of the match. In the 32nd minute of the game, things were tied at one apiece. From there on out, the Wildcats and Bees would trade scoring chances. Going into halftime at 1-1, gave each team time to recoup and push for the second half game-winner.

To start the second half, the Bees created three consecutive corner kicks as all were dangerous to the Wildcats. A few chances sailed over the crossbar but one coming off the head of Nuria Montouto found itself connect with the bar and drop directly in front the mouth of the goal. This would require the Wildcats goalie to react quickly before a Bee uniform would punch the ball in for the equalizer.

No more than two minutes later, Kendall Wendt would deflect a cross from Abigail Goff to give the Bees another chance. This would go just wide of the goal as time was diminishing. SAU would throw numbers forward to look for an equalizer as they created opportunities for themselves.

In the last minute of the match, a Bee uniform was taken down in the box to draw a pentalty kick for St. Ambrose. Brunson would score her first goal of the season as she collectively tucked the shot away. This would wash things at two all with seconds left in the match. Neither team would find anymore momentum as it ended 2-2.

Crawford and Brunson would each score for St. Ambrose.

Grace Kuchar played all ninety minutes in net for SAU to gather three saves on the evening.

SAU out shot Culver-Stockton 12-7 with six shots coming in each half. St. Ambrose would own five corner kicks in the game as all were dangerous scoring opportunities.

As the Bees are 1-2-2 on the season, they will get another chance at home this time. On Sat., SAU will play host to another Heart of America Athletic Conference school in Grand View University. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex.
