
Four Bees earn all-conference honors
Four Bees earned postseason all-CCAC honors the conference announced on Monday. Kaitlyn Brunson, Taylor DeSplinter, and Adriane Latham nabbed first team honors while Rachel Willette was a second team selection.
Brunson, a sophomore from Marion, Iowa, earned all-conference honors for the first time. Brunson netted 13 goals and added eight assists on the season. She had a season-high three goals in a win over Roosevelt on September 20th and was named the Offensive Player of the Week after the performance.
DeSplinter, a sophomore from Geneseo, Ill., had a breakout season. After earning second team honors a season ago, DeSplinter nabbed first team recognition with a CCAC leading 20 goals. Her 20 goals are 12th best in the NAIA as of November 14th. She also led St. Ambrose in assists with nine. DeSplinter was a two-time CCAC Offensive Player of the Week in 2022. Her best offensive performance was a four-goal, two-assist game in a win over Calumet on November 1st. DeSplinter was one of two SAU players that started all 20 games.
Latham, a junior defender from Eldridge, Iowa, captained a backline that produced eight shutouts. Latham started in all 18 games she appeared in and recorded her first goal as a Bee. She found the back of the net three times in 2022, once against Indiana Northwest on October 12th and twice on November 1st against Calumet. Latham also recorded one assist on the year.
Willette, a senior goalkeeper from Thorton, Colo., was a second team all-conference selection. Willette started 17 of 19 games played and made 65 saves while in net. She had a save percentage of .765 and a goals-against-average of 1.13. Willette was named the CCAC Defensive Player of the Week on October 11th after a four save performance in a comeback win over St. Francis (Ill.). She had a season high eight saves against Cardinal Stritch on October 18th and recorded seven saves in two other games.
St. Ambrose finished the season 13-4-3 overall and 10-1-2 in the CCAC.
