McLaughlin named CCAC Defensive Player of the Week
CHICAGO --- The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced St. Ambrose University's Molly McLaughlin as its Defensive Player of the Week for the seven-day period from March 8-14.
McLaughlin nearly put a pair of wins over ranked foes on her resume last week. In a match against Trinity Christian – which is among others receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll – the junior goalkeeper recorded seven saves, while allowing only one goal in a 1-0 setback on Tuesday.
On Saturday, boasting similar numbers, she came out on the winning side, making another seven saves in a 4-3 upset victory of No. 9-ranked Central Methodist University (Mo.).
St. Ambrose's 1-1 week kept the Fighting Bees above the .500 mark at 5-4 overall.
