Men and women bowlers finish sixth at National Match Games
The St. Ambrose men's and women's bowling teams both finished sixth at this weekend's tier-1 National Match Games tournament. Hosted by McKendree University, the men competed at St. Clair Bowl, while the women competed at Bel Air Bowl, with both events being near St. Louis.
The men's team competed against 26 other varsity squads, totaling 8759 pins for five traditional team games and 20 baker games. The top-three finishers were Wichita State (9520), Newman University (9103) and Wisconsin-Whitewater (9100).
Men's team members included Zach Greim (1094-five games), Pedro Irizarry (816-four games), Devin Richards (757-four games), Lucas Hersrud (722-four games), Kendric Siders (569-three games), Justin Aboud (523-three games), Cameron Crowe (363-two games) and Lucas Finley. Greim's 1094 total earned him a spot on the All-Tournament team, as a result of his fifth-place finish.
The women's team finished sixth in a field of 17 varsity teams with a pinfall total of 7963. The top-three finishers were Mount Mercy (8568), Lindenwood (8478) and Wichita State (8458).
Women's team members included Marissa Bills (964-five games), Amanda Bohn (891-five games), Erin Williams (891-five games), Emily Barth (514-three games), Tricia Alvarado (466-three games), Kayla Devine (459-three games), Noelle Phillips (150-one game) and Sammy Upham.
The next event on the schedule is the Warhawk Open on Dec. 1-2 in Addison, Ill., with all varsity and JV squads competing. That will be the final event on this semester's bowling schedule.
