Wroblewski first team all-CCAC; one of four Bees recognized

All-CCAC women's basketball team

A season that featured a 16-game winning streak ended with four Bees earning all-conference recognition.

Kylie Wroblewski was named first team all-CCAC, Jaynee Prestegaard was named to the second team, Anna Plumer earned all-conference honorable mention and Shayne Smith was tabbed as the league's Newcomer of the Year as the conference announced its postseason women's basketball awards.

St. Ambrose was also selected as the league's annual Champion of Character Team. It marked the fourth time in five years SAU has received the honor.

For Wroblewski, it marked the second time in three years she has been named first team all-conference. She led the team in both scoring (15.9 points per game) and rebounding (8.4 rebounds per game) while shooting better than 54 percent from the floor and nearly 83 percent from the line. The 6-2 junior from Bettendorf, Iowa, scored in double figures in 27 of the Bees' 30 games this season. She scored a career-best 33 points in a 109-100 win at Olivet Nazarene on Jan. 12.

Wroblewski posted 11 double-doubles this season, including a 14-point, 18-rebound effort in a 74-52 win over Trinity Christian on Feb. 7. The 18 boards were a career high.

Wroblewski became the 34th player in program history to score 1,000 career points when she hit the limestone in a win over Calumet St. Joseph on Jan. 29. She needed just 62 games to hit the mark and ended the season with 1,111 career points, good for 30th on the program's all-time scoring list.

Prestegaard joined Wroblewski to form a 1-2 punch in the paint for St. Ambrose. Prestegaard averaged 12.5 points and 9.6 boards per contest. She shot nearly 53 percent from the field and led the team with 39 blocked shots.

The 5-11 junior forward from Amboy, Ill., scored in double figures 18 times and had eight games of double-digit rebounds. She twice scored a career-best 27 points, the first coming on a 10-of-16 effort from the floor in a 90-77 win over Olivet Nazarene on Nov. 2 and matching that mark on a 12-of-14 shooting performance in a 68-59 win over Midland on Dec. 28.

Plumer was the team's top 3-point threat, setting a single-season school record by shooting .437 (69-of-158) from beyond the arc. That is currently the 18th-best mark in the NAIA. The 5-9 junior from Canton, Ill., hit at least one 3-pointer in 29 games this year and hit multiple threes in a game 25 times. She averaged 9.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest.

Smith stepped in to fill a void in the backcourt after transferring from Monmouth College. The 5-5 senior guard from Hume, Ill., averaged 10.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steal while playing nearly 29 minutes per game. Smith scored in double figures 14 times, including a season-best 18 points in the CCAC Tournament quarterfinals.
