Bees sweep the Eagles in conference doubleheader

The Bees had a stellar trip to Elgin, Ill. To take on the Judson Eagles. Amassing 23 hits and 15 RBIs as a team, St. Ambrose defeated Judson with final scores of 7-6 and 9-0 (five innings). Three Bees smashed home runs out of the park in game one. Kylee Claypool (2 H, 1 RBI, 1 HR) and Becca Haag (3 H, 2 RBI, 1 HR) went back-to-back in the top of the fourth inning to get the scoring started. In the following inning Mady Reed (1 H, 3 RBI, 1 HR) came to the plate driving a three-run home run out of the park to give the Bees their first lead of the day. Mya Millsaps recorded three hits, Ellie Downing got one hit, and Reagan Engberg and Bianca Shorter each had one hit.

Leah Maro recorded the win striking out 9 Eagles.

St. Ambrose started the scoring early in game two racking up six runs in the first three innings, resultin in a five inning complete game. Reed (4 H, 5 RBI, 2 2b, 1 3b) drove a ball into the outfield resulting in a triple that brought in three runs to start the scoring for the Bees. For the second time on the day, Haag (1H, 2 RBI, 1 HR) crushed another home run bringing in two more runs. Parker Leonard and Mia Souliotis each collected a hit as well.

Ada Boysen got the win with 11 strikeouts in five innings pitched.

The Bees are back in action Saturday, April 5th as they travel to Bourbonnais, Ill. to take on the Olivet Nazarene Tigers.
