
Bees' bats come alive in Florida National doubleheader
St. Ambrose finished their spring break trip with a bang. The Bees' bats were alive in their doubleheader against the Florida National Conquistadors. They collected 20 hits on the day, including two home runs from Janna Bowser and Becca Haag.
Game 1 was a pitching duel until St. Ambrose scored their first run in the top of the 6th inning. Brynnlin Kroymann singled to left field driving in Kylee Claypool. The Bees regained the lead in the top of the 7th inning with a quartet of runs. Ellie Downing, Claypool, Haag, and Kroymann each collected 2 hits in the contest. Mady Reed, Reagan Engberg, and Taylor Martyn recorded 1 hit a piece. Kroymann and Claypool also put up an RBI each.
In game 2 the Bees started the scoring early. St. Ambrose batters drove in 5 runs through the first 3 innings highlighted by 1 run home run from Becca Haag in the top of the 3rd inning. Janna Bowser closed out the scoring coming in as a pinch hitter and having a 2 run homerun of her own. Mya Millsaps led the Bees with 2 hits, 2 runs, and 1 RBI. Laurel Politch, Parker Leonard, Anna Engberg, Reagan Engberg, Downing, Bowser, and Haag all recorded 1 hit in the nightcap.
The Bees will be back in action at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex on Wednesday, March 26th for a doubleheader against Viterbo.
