Bees roll over the Crimson Wave with Campbell's hat trick

Freshman Joe Campbell led the way for the Bees earlier this evening with a hat trick coming off three shots, a perfect game for the forward. German Worm netted two of this two shots in East Chicago, Ill. in a conference match at Calumet. Eventually, the Bees would go on and upend the Crimson Wave 9-0 to make this the second straight conference win for SAU.

The Bees never gave the Crimson Wave a chance all afternoon as SAU posted a clean shutout sheet, never allowing a single goal.

It took SAU no time as 45 seconds into the match Hunter Lillie threaded a pass to German Worm who tucked away the first goal of the game, on the very first shot and possession.

SAU continued to move the ball around and keep possession over Calumet.

Owen Hull added a second goal for SAU in the 10th minute. It would be the Bees the rest of the way as their offense never wavered.

No more than three minutes later, Worm was at it again to extend the lead to 3-0. This time, Matheus Migueis was credited with the feed.

In the 18th minute, SAU's Campbell connected for his first goal of the match, but he was not quite finished yet.

There was no real offensive treat from Calumet and St. Ambrose took full advantage of that as they non-stop peppered the defense of the Crimson Wave.

To up the score to 5-0, Gus Stevens found a ready Ricardo Ronconi.

Then, Jörn Reck etched himself into the stat line with a terrific individual effort for St. Ambrose.

Worm did more than score for the Bees this match as he also tallied himself with an assist off a Charlie Leinart goal in the 30th minute of action.

In the first half, that is all the scoring the Bees could muster up. But, defensively St. Ambrose never stalled..

After the break, St. Ambrose netted two more scores, both by Campbell himself, before they cooled off.

Campbell notched back-to-back goals in the 56th minute and again in the 62nd minute for SAU. These two scores completed his hat trick, the first of the season by a Bee and the first in Campbell's Bee career. Polvios Pelopida registered an assist on Campbell's last goal.

With the score at 9-0, no more goals came for the Bees, but that did not mean SAU backed off any as they still fired off six more shots in the match.

This victory moves the Bees to 2-8-3 overall and 2-5-1 in conference play with a last push coming the remaining games of the season.

Overall, the Bees took 16 shots and earned four corner kicks in the match.

Kai Domagala was credited with the shutout victory.

This upcoming Wed., the Bees host the V-Hawks of Viterbo University at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex for a conference show down. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. as part of the first match of the double header.
