St. Ambrose claims third straight victory

St. Ambrose continued to gear up for the postseason, winning for the third straight time, a 3-0 decision at Calumet St. Joseph Tuesday night. The Bees overwhelmed the Crimson Wave 25-19, 25-18, 25-17 to improve to 18-11 overall and 10-7 in the CCAC.

SAU hit .320 for the match, collecting 15 kills against just five hitting errors in both the first and second sets. The Bees improved in the third, finishing with 10 kills and a single error.

Jill Kavalauskas, who was named the league's attacker of the week earlier in the day, again led the way. The senior totaled 11 kills and had just one hitting error.

Meredith Siebers had a match-best 12 kills. Rachael Dion and Meredith Umland each collected five kills without a single error.

Mackenzie GraftonAmber Tomlin and London Williams had two kills apiece. Emily Pobanz also registered a kill in the win.

Tomlin led all players with 26 assists. Hannah Sondag added six assists.

Maicee Pierce picked up a match-leading 15 digs for the Bees.

St. Ambrose will close the regular season at Roosevelt Thursday at 7 p.m. The CCAC Tournament begins with quarterfinal-round action next Tuesday.
