CCAC-leading 17 Bees named to all-academic women's volleyball team

CHICAGO --- Like it did in men's soccer, St. Ambrose University turned in the most academic all-conference selections In the sport of women's volleyball when the league office made the announcement of the 93 selections on Tuesday. A total of 17 Fighting Bee volleyball players were recognized.

The only other school to have more than ten recipients was Trinity Christian College with 12. The rest of the top five was made up of Roosevelt University and University of St. Francis with nine awardees each and Cardinal Stritch University and Robert Morris University Illinois with eight selections each.

Olivet Nazarene University was next in line with seven recipients, followed by Calumet College of St. Joseph and Indiana University South Bend with six honorees each. Other representatives on the squad came from Judson University and Trinity International University with four spots each, Governors State University with two and Indiana University Northwest with one.

The 17 Bees named to the team were Hailey Catich, Hayley Coker, Rachael Dion, McKahl English, Katie Hammond, Abby Happ, Mickey Hayes, Jessica Hemm, Jenny Koerner, Emma Marshall, Felica McCroy, Vivian O'Laughlin, Brittany Parks, Maicee Pierce, Amber Tomlin, London Williams and Allison Yonushatis.

Thirty-four (34) of this year's awardees were also part of the squad one year ago, with eight of those on each of the past two teams besides this year's squad. Three of the individuals awarded boasted 4.00 grade point averages.

To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must have been enrolled at her respective CCAC school for a minimum of one academic year, have completed at least 30 semester hours and boast no less than a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
