Bees drop second straight CCAC contest

St. Ambrose fell to 2-2 in conference play after a 3-0 loss at Trinity International Saturday afternoon.

The Bees trailed throughout much of the match in the 25-17, 25-17, 25-18 loss.

The third set was the closest. SAU battled back from a six-point deficit as kills from Jessica Hemm and Brea Cunningham sandwiched around a Mickey Hayes ace cut the deficit to 21-18. But that proved to be the Bees' final point as the Trojans closed out the match with a 4-0 run.

Jenny Koerner led St. Ambrose with nine kills. She had just one hitting error. Rachael Dion and Abby Happ each had four kills and Cunningham and Madisyn Johnson had three apiece.

Amber Tomlin had a team-best 22 assists. Alexis Hayes led the team with eight digs.

The Bees will return home to host Olivet Nazarene Tuesday at 7 p.m.
