Nine Bees named to CCAC all-academic women's volleyball team

CHICAGO --- All 13 schools sponsoring women's volleyball gained no less than two representatives each on the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team when it was announced on Wednesday by the league office. Heading the group were both Olivet Nazarene University and St. Ambrose University with nine selections each.

Just one spot behind and with just one less representative was Cardinal Stritch University with eight honorees, while Robert Morris University Illinois and Trinity International University boasted seven recipients each. Other schools represented included Roosevelt University and Trinity Christian College (six picks each), University of St. Francis (five) and Indiana University South Bend, Judson University and Saint Xavier University with three spots each.

Rounding out the list were Calumet College of St. Joseph and Governors State University with two selections each.

The nine Bees named to the team were Allie Brent, Hayley Coker, Mallory Furlong, Abby Happ, Mickey Hayes, Riley Hummert, Emma Marshall, Morgan Twing and London Williams.

Seventy (70) individuals in all captured the distinction with 16 being two-time recipients, nine being three-time selections and one gaining the recognition in each of her four years. Three individuals also turned in perfect 4.00 grade point averages.

To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must have been enrolled at her respective CCAC school for a minimum of one academic year, have completed at least 30 semester hours and boast no less than a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
