Porter, Twing named second team all-CCAC

2018 all-CCAC Women's Volleyball Team

Devan Porter and Morgan Twing were named second team all-CCAC as the conference announced its postseason women's volleyball awards.

The two seniors were instrumental in helping St. Ambrose qualify for the CCAC Tournament for the second straight year.

Porter, an outside hitter from Davenport, Iowa, joined the Bees midway through the season and made an immediate impact. Despite playing in just 17 matches, she finished third on the team with 231 kills. Her 3.98 kills per set was the top mark on the team. She was also third on the team with a 2.86-digs-per-set average.

Porter put down double-digit kills in 13 matches, including three matches of 19 kills. She had seven matches with at least 10 digs, recording a double-double all seven times. She came up with a season-high 24 digs in a four-set loss at Robert Morris late in the regular season.

Twing, a setter from Rock Island, Ill., led the Bees with 783 assists while playing in a 6-2 system. Her average of 6.58 assists per set was the ninth-best mark in the conference. Twing registered 10-or-more assists in each of the 32 matches she played, and had 10 matches of at least 30 assists. She collected a season-best 39 assists at Cardinal Stritch on Sept. 6. She also posted 33 kills and 23 aces.

In her two years at St. Ambrose, Twing finished with 1,298 career assists.

SAU won four of its final seven conference matches to earn the league's eighth seed in the postseason tournament. The Bees finished 12-21 overall and 7-11 in conference play.
