Reemtsma second, Butler fourth at NAIA Outdoor Championships

Will Reemtsma and Gabbi Butler each put together an All-American performance to lead St. Ambrose at the season-ending NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Indiana Wesleyan in Marion, Ind., Friday.

Reemtsma finished as the National runner-up in the men's 400-meter hurdles in 50.97 seconds, just .09 seconds behind the winner. The second-place effort kept Reemtsma, one of the school's most decorated athletes, from earning his third straight National Title in the event.

Butler also repeated as an All-American, taking fourth in the women's 400-meter dash with a PR time of 54.04 seconds. She was fifth in last year's championships. Butler added a 17th-place showing in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 24.29 seconds.

Annah Miller just missed the podium in a pair of events. She was 10th in the discus Friday with a throw of 46.38 meters. A day earlier, Miller placed 11th in the shot put with a mark of 13.73 meters.

The SAU men throwers also performed well at Nationals.

Jonah Wilson competed in two events. He was 15th in the shot put with a distance of 16.22 meters and 18th in the discus with a mark of 47.79 meters. Teammate Alec Seifert's toss of 15.89 meters was good for 21st in the shot put. Payton Woods competed in the hammer throw.

Competing in the same event as Reemtsma, Ben Wilson took 11th in the 400-meter hurdles with a collegiate-best time of 53.61 seconds. Joshua Mottet registered a pole vault of 4.65 meters, good for 20th place. The team of Chris Miserendino, Trae Corby, Dylan Grandon and Tommy Ashby finished the 4x800-meter relay in 7:45.05 to place 19th overall.

The St. Ambrose men finished 32nd with eight points while the Bee women were 39th with five points.
