
Bees break multiple records at LAC Championships
Along with winning Liberal Arts Conference Championships for the third consecutive year, St. Ambrose smashed several school and meet records at the four-day event that concluded Saturday in Mount Pleasant, Wis.
A pair of men's relays broke both SAU and conference meet records.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Brett Jones, Carter Gaber, Riley Stevenson and Cory Werrett set a new record with a time of 1:21.93. The men's 400-yard medley relay team of Jayden Coetzer, Werrett, Stevenson and Jonas Friess broke both marks with a time of 3:21.26.
Three additional school records fell.
Luke Thomas set a new school mark in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:03.11.
Two women's relays also established new school records. The 200-yard medley relay team of Irene Artabe, Bridget O'Grady, Leyre Antonanzas and Anna Gute finished in 1:49.04. Gute, Antonanzas, Grace Bobeldyk and Bryn Kiley teamed for a Bee-best time of 3:36.38 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
A championship meet record of 3:02.37 was set by the men's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Jones, Panagiotis Pappous, Werrett and Friess.
Werrett and Friess also set individual Liberal Arts Conference Championship meet records. Werrett finished the 100-yard breaststroke in 55.47 seconds and Friess completed the 200-yard freestyle in 1:39.81.
