
Bees outlast Wildcats to pick up conference win on the road
Thanks to a late goal, St. Ambrose was able to take down Culver-Stockton 16-15 in Canton, Mo., Wednesday afternoon.
The Bees came out hot in this conference matchup striking first with a Karsen Jummati goal, assisted by Morgan O'Malley. In goal exchanges with the Wildcats, Raegan Dotterer was able to net another goal early for the Bees. Culver-Stockton went on a three-goal run to put them up on the scoreboard. However, O'Malley put one in towards the end of the quarter ending the quarter down 5-3.
The Wildcats opened up the second quarter with three quick goals to go up 8-3. The Bees answered back with a six-goal run with goals coming from Katie McGlynn, O'Malley, Dotterer, Jummati, and Anabelle Brown. On this run, Brown totaled three assists to help the goal scorers. Going into the half, the score was tied at 9-9.
With a slow start to the second half, with 4:30 left in the period, the Bees stung first with a Dotterer goal to take the 10-9 lead. Brown quickly followed it up with a goal for herself, assisted by McGlynn. Up 11-9, the Bees watched the Wildcats notch in two to tie it back up at 11-11. With less than a minute left, McGlynn struck with two goals, ending the quarter up 13-11.
McGlynn kept rolling with two early goals in the fourth. The Wildcats, trying to defend their home turf, go on a four-goal run to tie it up 15-15 late in the fourth. With a minute and 15 seconds left, who other than senior captain Anabelle Brown would score, winning the game for the Bees.
In this competitive conference matchup, the Bees got the win on the road to help them stay undefeated in conference going 2-0. McGlynn led the Bees in goals with five while Dotterer and Brown had three apiece, and O'Malley and Jummati both notching in two. Brown led with three assists while McGlynn and O'Malley chipped in one each. Our Bee in the cage, Saige Carlton, made an impressive 12 saves on the day.
The Bees stay on the road in Missouri for another conference game going against UHSP on Thursday at 3 p.m.
