Nine Bees tabbed All-Conference honors

Heart of America Athletic Conference Release 

Nine Bees earned All-Conference honors in the Heart of America Athletic Conference for the 2023-24 season. Voting compiled of coaches throughout the league. The league announced that Anabelle Brown, Lauren Hoesly, Claire Jeffers, Sophie McPeek, and Abby Taaffe earned first-team honors. Another set of Bees in Jayden Ambrose, Sarah Diehl, Raegan Dotterer, and Josie Mork notched second-team honors. Anabelle Brown tabbed second-team honors in draw control as well.  

Jayden Ambrose, the sophomore from Minooka, Ill., secured second-team midfield honors. In her two-season career, she has scored 30 goals while notching nine assists. The midfielder has 29 pickups while causing 16 turnovers. Ambrose secured 43 draw controls over her career. Ambrose plans to major in Exercise Science. 

Anabelle Brown was named first-team attack and second-team draw control. The junior from El Dorado Hills, Calif. has notched over 100 career points. To date in her career, she has scored 84 goals and collected 45 assists. Brown has gathered 62 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers. Brown secured 142 draw controls throughout her career. She has also started in all 40 of her appearances. The junior earned Heart Offensive Player of the Week honors this season as well. Brown earned second-team attack honors last season as a sophomore. The attacker is majoring in Biology.

Sarah Diehl collected second-team attack honors for her performance on the field this season. The rising star has scored 48 goals in her three seasons. The junior has gathered 18 assists, 39 ground balls, and 39 draw controls. This season she had a personal best of four goals vs. William Penn. She also scored three goals in three separate matches. Diehl comes to Iowa from Austin, Texas and is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. 

Raegan Dotterer, a freshman midfielder from Lexington, S.C, tabbed second-team attack honors. In her singular season as a Bee, she helped the women's lacrosse team receive votes in the national poll rankings as well as earning the no. 2 seed in the Heart conference tournament. Dotterer has appeared in 10 games this season while scoring 13 goals. She has corralled two assists, five ground balls, and 12 draw controls. Dotterer plans to pursue a degree in Communications and Sports Management.  

Lauren Hoesly notched first-team attack honors. The Oconomowoc, Wis. native became the all-time career points leader in St. Ambrose women's lacrosse history this season. This season alone, she has tabbed two nine-point contests, scoring five goals and gathering four assists. To date, Hoesly has scored 59 goals overall while tallying 96 assists. She has picked up 40 ground balls and caused 28 turnovers. This season, Hoesly notched Heart Offensive Player of the Week honors. The attacker will obtain her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. 

Claire Jeffers, a midfielder from Waukesha, Wis. tabbed first-team midfield honors. The senior has appeared in 48 games while having scored 30 goals. She notched 19 assists, 50 ground balls, and 30 draw controls. In her career, she caused 41 turnovers. She also holds a single game record of four assists coming at Missouri Valley last season. Jeffers is pursuing a degree in Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice. 

Sophie McPeek earned first-team defense honors. The native of Tulsa, Okla. tabbed Heart Defensive Player of the Week honors this season. She has scored three goals and notched three assists in her career. Defensively, she caused 14 turnovers and gathered 38 ground balls. The senior will graduate with a degree in Biology and Forensic Psychology. 

Josie Mork earned second-team defense honors. The senior has appeared in 53 games, starting in 44 of those appearances. As a defender, Mork has scored one goal and tabbed one assist. The Brooklyn Park, Minn. native has collected 38 ground balls, 8 draw controls, and caused 15 turnovers. Mork has been a four year member of the Fighting Bee women's lacrosse program. This season, she has started all ten games for the Bees. 

Abby Taaffe, the junior defender from Sammamish, Wash. earned first-team defense honors. Her career saw her start in 34 of the 40 games she played in. In that time, she scored two goals and gathered three assists. Her defensive efforts stood out to the conference in her 90 ground ball pickups and 48 caused turnovers. This season, she tabbed six caused turnovers vs. Culver-Stockton College on 4/10/2024. Those six caused turnovers will add her to the record books as the single game caused turnovers leader. She currently sits second in the record books for single season caused turnovers. Taaffe plans to get a degree in Criminal Justice.
