St. Ambrose edges Quincy to earn victory

St. Ambrose used nine second half goals and held off a late charge by Quincy to win their first game of the year, 14-13.

Quincy scored the first goal of the evening, but Erin Green answered with two goals, one with an assist from Maddie Wiltrout. The Hawks scored three straight goals until Audrey Warner and Green found the back of the net to tie the game up at four. Quincy went on another three goal run, but Katie Baranski was able to score to cut the deficit to two going into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Quincy got on the board first pushing their lead to three. SAU responded with four straight goals - two from Baranski, and one from Wiltrout and Mackenzie Zions - to grab a 9-8 lead. The Hawks responded with another three goal run to go up by two. The Bees countered with two goals from Wiltrout and Warner with a Baranski goal in-between to retake a three goal lead. Quincy scored two goals late, but Katie Burr made a save with no time remaining to preserve the win.

Allison Claus and Burr split time in goal with Burr getting the win after making four saves.

The Bees will travel to Chicago, Ill. on February 29th and face Siena Heights at eleven a.m.
