
Lytle takes fifth at Mount Mercy Spring Invite
Amara Lytle finished fifth in the two-day Mount Mercy Spring Invitational played at Finkbine in Iowa City, Iowa.
Lytle climbed four spots during the second round thanks to firing a 79 Wednesday. She opened with an 89 to finish with a 168.
Gabrielle Langlois and Anna Hurning tied with 183s. Langlois shot a 94-89 and Hurning put together rounds of 92-91.
Aleanna Mendoza made a 10-stroke improvement from Tuesday's round. She had a first-round 99 and finished with an 89 for a 188. Addy Heineke carded rounds of 98 and 96 for her 194.
With every player posting a better second-round score, St. Ambrose shot a 348 Wednesday. That came on the heels of a first-day 373. The 721 was good for fourth place.
William Penn won the tournament with a 661 (336-325).
Caitlin McDonagh, playing as an individual, shot a first-round 100.
WPU's Olivia Lange and Gabriana Franco shared medalist honors. Both players shot 79-79=158.
St. Ambrose will now focus on the CCAC Championships, played at Lincolnshire Golf Course in Crete, Ill., next Wednesday and Thursday.
