SAU takes fourth at Bill Johnson Memorial

Gabrielle Langlois and Addy Heineke each finished inside the top 20 to lead St. Ambrose at the Bill Johnson Memorial played at Cinder Ridge in Wilmington, Ill., Monday and Tuesday.

Langlois had the Bees' best round of the tournament, firing an opening-round 81. She slipped to a 97 to finish with a 178, good for 15th place.

Heineke carded the team's other sub-90 round, shooting an 88 Monday. She followed that with a 99 to take 20th place overall with a 187.

The other three Bees all finished within the top 25. Caitlin McDonagh was one of the few players in the field to improve her score from Monday to Tuesday. She started with a 95 before closing with a 93 for her 188. Anna Hurning had rounds of 91 and 102 for her 193. Aleanna Mendoza shot a 195 with rounds of 97 and 98.

SAU put together a 355 in the opening round before wrapping up with a 387. The 742 was good for fourth place. William Penn took the team title with a 646 (319-327).

Four other Bees played as individuals. Tavia Dowell led that group with a 198 (94-104). Also competing were Ellie Rude (105-103=208), Avery Rigg (106-106=212) and Sam Diekmann (112-115=227).

William Penn's Olivia Lange claimed medalist honors with a 6-over 150 (75-75).

St. Ambrose will close the fall portion of its schedule at the Saints Classic at Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind., Oct. 14-15.
