Madeline Prestegaard named second team all-CCAC

All-CCAC Women's Basketball Team

Madeline Prestegaard was named second team all-CCAC and her sister Jaynee Prestegaard received all-CCAC honorable mention as the conference announced its postseason women's basketball awards.

Madeline averaged 11.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, placing her inside the top-20 in the conference in both categories. The 6-3 junior center scored in double figures 14 times and had three games of at least 20 points. Madeline scored a career-high 22 points in a win over Waldorf on Dec. 31.

She grabbed double-digit rebounds four times this season, including a 14-board performance in a win over Trinity Christiain on Feb. 8.

Madeline shot a conference-leading 59.0 percent from the floor while appearing in all 20 games this season.

Her sister Jaynee also averaged double figures, scoring 10.1 points per contest. She finished 11th in the CCAC in rebounding by averaging 7.3 boards.

The 5-11 sophomore forward scored in double figures 11 times with a career-high 21 points coming in a win over Lincoln College on Jan. 30. She posted six games of at least 10 rebounds, including 14 in a Jan. 23 win over Trinity International.

Jaynee was second in the conference in blocked shots (2.1 per game) and also averaged 1.0 steal per contest.

St. Ambrose was also selected as the league's annual Champion of Character Team. It marked the third time in four years SAU has received the honor. The team was awarded based on its many servant leadership activities, including adopting four families in a local school district for Christmas and also making homemade Christmas cards, baking Christmas cookies and singing Christmas carols outside an assisted living facility in Bettendorf, Iowa.

The Bees finished 12-8 overall.
