CCAC-leading 10 Bees named to all-academic women's basketball team

CCAC Women's Basketball Awards

CHICAGO --- Regular-season league champion Saint Xavier University, Olivet Nazarene University and St. Ambrose University all scored perfect tens on the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball all-academic team as all three programs garnered a league-high 10 recipients among the 70 total individuals that were recognized on Wednesday morning by the league office.

Just behind each of those teams was Cardinal Stritch University with nine awardees, followed by Holy Cross College, Indiana University Northwest and conference tournament champion University of St. Francis with five honorees each.

Others to gain representation included Indiana University South Bend with four recipients, Calumet College of St. Joseph with three and Judson University, Roosevelt University and Trinity Christian College with two selections each.

Governors State University, Robert Morris University Illinois and Trinity International University each gained one spot on the team.

The 10 Bees named to the list were Maddy Cash, Cassidy Darin, Madi Epperson, Charlotte Flynn, Sarah Goldensoph, Colleen Grady, Gabrielle Koelker, Abby Lownik, Jamie Martens and Madeline Prestegaard.

Nearly half of the 70 awardees were repeat selections (34) with 13 of those being named to the squad for the third time. Two individuals also turned in perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point averages.

To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must have been enrolled at her respective CCAC school for a minimum of one academic year, have completed at least 30 semester hours and boast no less than a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
