Bees overwhelm Crimson Wave 83-58

Twelve different Bees scored and St. Ambrose shot better than 51 percent from the floor in an 83-58 win at Calumet St. Joseph Saturday afternoon.

Madi Epperson hit four 3-pointers in scoring a team-high 16 points. Kylie Wroblewski had 14 points and Madeline Prestegaard finished with 12 in helping St. Ambrose move to 8-10 overall and 6-5 in the conference.

Wroblewski scored nine points in the first quarter in helping SAU open up a 19-11 lead. It was Epperson's turn in the second. The junior guard knocked down all four of her threes in the frame as the lead ballooned to 44-28 at the half.

Three points from Maddy Cash and two each from Avari Everts and Colleen Grady closed the third quarter, and Prestegaard opened the fourth with five straight points, including a three-point play, that capped a 12-0 run to extend the lead to 68-44.

The Bees shot at least 50 percent from the field in the first three quarters and just missed the mark in the fourth (5-of-11). Behind Epperson, they also connected on 5-of-12 from beyond the arc. St. Ambrose was also credited with 21 assists on their 30 made field goals. Eleven different Bees each had an assist.

Everts and Charlotte Flynn each scored nine points. Gabrielle Koelker had six and Jaynee Prestegaard scored four. Cash, Sarah Goldensoph and Olivia Cantu each had three points, and Grady and Abby Lownik each tallied two points.

Jamie Martens had a team-best seven assists. Four Bees - Wroblewski, Epperson, Lownik and Cash - each recorded two assists.

Wroblewski also pulled down a team-best six rebounds, helping SAU to a 46-31 rebounding advantage.

Defensively, St. Ambrose forced 22 turnovers and held Calumet St. Joseph (2-16, 1-10 CCAC) to less than 33 percent shooting.

The Bees will return home for a pair of games against nationally-ranked opponents. Wednesday, St. Ambrose will host No. 8 St. Francis at 5:30 p.m., and then next Saturday, the team will welcome No. 24 Indiana South Bend to Lee Lohman Arena.
