Schumacher named CCAC Player of the Week

St. Ambrose University's Alyssa Schumacher (Whitewater, Wis.) helped key five victories, while Cardinal Stritch University's Hope Maes (Phillips Ranch, Calif.) did the same in two games to earn Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week accord, respectively, for the week ending March 27, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Appearing in five of St. Ambrose's six games last week, Schumacher authored both a hit and a run batted in in each of the contests, finishing with 10 total hits in 13 at bats for an eye-opening .769 batting average. She also produced the same number of runs driven home.

The sophomore shortstop/catcher recorded three-hit games again both SUNY-Old Westbury last Monday and Trinity International University on Saturday. She also drove in multiple runs in four of five games topped by her three RBIs in the 14-0 win over SUNY-Old Westbury.

Schumacher's other numbers over the five games included five runs scored, three doubles and one triple.

St. Ambrose's perfect 6-0 week elevated the Bees' record to 16-3 on the campaign.
