Bees win 2-of-3 at Grand View Duals

St. Ambrose cruised to large wins in a pair of duals at the Grand View Duals in Des Moines, Iowa, Saturday. SAU defeated William Woods 47-6 and Missouri Baptist 36-16. The only loss came to No. 1 Grand View 47-3. The results give SAU a final record of 6-5 in duals this season.

SAU earned wins in eight of the 10 matches, including three by forfeit, in the dual win over William Woods.

Four of those eight wins came by pin. Jayden Terronez needed just 35 seconds for his win at 165 pounds. Tate O'Shea's victory came in 1:44 at 149 pounds. Dylan Meiners also picked up a first-period win, that coming in 2:02 at 197 pounds. Colin O'Grady won in 3:35 at 184 pounds. 

Slade Dias had the other Bee victory. He controlled his match at 157 pounds, win a tech fall 20-5.

Riece Graham (133 pounds), Guiseppe Guerra (141 pounds) and Abdullah Razzak (heavyweight) each won by forfeit.

The Bees won a total of seven matches in the 36-16 win over Missouri Baptist.

Josh Zeman and Terronez each won via pinfall. Zeman needed 5:33 for his win at 149 pounds while Terronez got his second first-period pin at 165 pounds the 2:23 mark. Those victories sandwiched a 19-2 tech fall by Diego Machado at 157 pounds.

Guerra earned a 16-4 major decision at 141 pounds. Meiners shut out his opponent 4-0 at 197 pounds.

Mick Chagnon (125 pounds) and O'Grady (184 pounds) each won by forfeit.

St. Ambrose won one match against top-ranked Grand View. That was an 11-4 decision by Dias at 157 pounds.

SAU will now look towards the postseason. The Bees will compete in the Heart of America Championships in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Feb. 21-22, looking to send multiple competitors to the NAIA Championships in Park City, Kan., beginning on Mar. 6.
