Machado, Terronez, Meiners ranked In NAIA preseason poll

St. Ambrose will start the 2024-25 season with three wrestlers ranked nationally at their respective weight classes.
Two Bees who have previously qualified for the NAIA Tournament lead the way. Diego Machado, a National qualifier at 165 pounds last season, is ranked No. 19 in the country at 157 pounds in the NAIA's preseason ratings. Jayden Terronez, who qualified for the National Championships in both 2022 and 2023, is also ranked No. 19 at 165 pounds.
Dylan Meiners is ranked No. 23 at 197 pounds.
The three are among seven Bees who are ranked at their respective weight classes in the Heart of America Conference preseason poll. Machado is ranked fourth in the conference, Terronez is fifth and Meiners sixth. Guiseppe Guerra is also ranked sixth at 141 pounds. Steele Dias is seventh at 125 pounds, Tate O'Shea is eighth at 149 pounds and Anthony Sartori is eighth at 174 pounds.
As a team, St. Ambrose is slotted seventh in the preseason Heart ratings, just two points behind Baker. Grand View, which has won 12 NAIA National Championships in the last 16 years, sits atop the conference rankings.
SAU will host its annual Intrasquad Dual Wednesday at 6 p.m. before officially starting the season with a dual at William Penn on Oct. 31.
