Bees get conference victory over Eagles

St. Ambrose evened its conference record to 4-4 with a four-set win over Robert Morris Tuesday night at Lee Lohman Arena. The Bees are now 10-8 overall.

Fourteen different Bees recorded a kill in the 25-22, 25-15, 21-25, 29-27 win. Scott MacGillis led the way with 11 while Jeramie Gutierrez finished with eight.

SAU won the first two sets before stumbling in the third. That set up a back-and-forth fourth set. The Bees led by as many as four points early and maintained a three-point lead as late as 16-13 on a Logan Havens ace. Robert Morris (1-20, 0-8 CCAC) evened the score at 17-17 and from there the teams traded points until the Eagles grabbed a 22-20 lead. A kill from MacGillis and a block from Skyler Marushige and Jason Bageanis again knotted the score.

The Bees earned five set points and the Eagles erased the top four before an RMU hitting error at 28-27 gave SAU the win.

Along with leading the team with 24 assists, Adam Campbell added six kills. Marushige and Bageanis each put down five kills, Dom Marshall had four and Myles Hudson finished with three.

Jake Snyder recorded 11 assists. Dylan Herridge led all players with 12 digs. Ricardo Ubior had eight digs.

St. Ambrose will visit Saint Xavier Thursday night.
