Snyder and MacGillis named CCAC Players of the Week

CHICAGO --- Leading their respective teams to league wins during the week of March 4-10, St. Ambrose University's Scott MacGillis (Wauwatosa, Wis.) and Jake Snyder (Mokena, Ill.) and Saint Xavier University's Ben Gabor (Shorewood, Ill.) have garnered the latest round of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's volleyball weekly honors, it was announced by the league office Tuesday morning.

MacGillis was named the CCAC Attacker of the Week after averaging 4.1 kills, 1.9 digs and 0.6 blocks per set in a pair of conference wins to strengthen the Fighting Bees' hold on first place. In a five-set win over Cardinal Stritch University last Monday, the 6-4 junior outside hitter turned in a double-double with his 20 kills and 10 digs, to go along with three aces. One day later, he put up 21 kills, nine digs and four blocks in another five-set win opposite Trinity Christian College.

Snyder, meanwhile, claimed CCAC Setter of the Week recognition for the second time this season after delivering 50 assists on Monday and another 47 on Tuesday for an average of 9.7 assists per set. The sophomore also collected 14 digs over the two matches.

The two conference wins, including Monday's comeback from a 2-0 deficit against Cardinal Stritch, put the Bees two matches ahead in the conference standings at 8-1. Overall, St. Ambrose is now 10-7.
