St. Ambrose took home three major awards at the conclusion of the CCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Dylan Grandon was named both the Men's MVP (most points) and the Men's Track Athlete of the Championships and Beth Jansen was tabbed as the conference's Men's Assistant Coach of the Year at the event hosted by St. Ambrose in the Wellness and Recreation Center.
Grandon accumulated a total of 30 points for the Bees. He won both of his individual events. His time of 1:22.50 was more than one second better than the second-place finisher in the 600m run. He then edged the second-place runner in the 1000m run by a tenth of a second with a winning time of 2:28.68.
Grandon also anchored the 4x400m relay team to a first-place and Championship-record time of 3:20.02.
He is the second straight Bee to be named the CCAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Championships following in the footsteps of Will Reemtsma last year.
Jansen, in her 17th year as an assistant track & field coach at St. Ambrose, saw her distance runners pile up several points to help the SAU men finish second at the Championships.
Starting at the 800m run, SAU posted seven all-conference performances over five races.
Chris Miserendino (1:56.26) and Tommy Ashby (1:57.23) were second and third, respectively, in the 800. Grandon won the 1000m run and Miserendino placed third in 2:29.00. Will Dowda was runner-up in the mile run in 4:16.52. Luke Benes was second in the 3000m run (8:41.83) and third in the 5000m run (15:18.05).
Tommy Ashby, Tyler Moody, Nathan Boleyn and Kale Cartee combined for a time of 8:03.82 to take silver in the 4x800m relay.
