SAU Lacrosse on Spring Break trip

The St. Ambrose men's and women's lacrosse teams are traveling through Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky and Georgia on their annual Spring Break trip.

March 9
SAU Women 13, Bethel (Ind.) 7 - box score

St. Ambrose used a fast start to grab a 13-7 win at Bethel. The Bees scored seven of the game's first eight goals, with Katie Baranski accounting for three and Allie Ruggiero two. Bethel climbed to within 10-7 with less than 10 minutes remaining, but Baranski scored two more goals, capping her seven-goal day, to extend the lead to 12-7. Ruggiero scored her third goal of the game in the final two minutes to complete the scoring. Avery Cummins, Erin Green and Katrina Lisowski also scored for St. Ambrose. Green and Mckenna Palmer were each credited with an assist. Alexis Schott and Allison Claus each came up with two saves in goal for the Bees.

March 10
Tennessee Wesleyan 14, SAU Men 6 - box score

Tennessee Wesleyan scored eight straight goals over a 17-minute stretch bridging the third and fourth quarters to defeat St. Ambrose 14-6. Max Sulsenti had tied the contest at 5-5 early in the third quarter with a goal off a Hunter Northway assist but the Bees would not score again until the game's final minutes as TWU built a 13-5 lead. Thomas Parker scored to end the drought with just over four minutes to play. The loss came after SAU had built an early 3-1 lead behind goals from Danny KinnerkJustin O'Marrah and Christian Dimaano. Kinnerk's second goal of the day gave the Bees a 4-3 lead midway through the second quarter. But the Bulldogs scored the final two goals of the half before going on their big run in the second half. Adam Kasper made 12 saves while Johnny Moran was credited with two.

March 12
SAU Men 22, Asbury 6 - box score

Ten different Bees scored as St. Ambrose defeated Asbury 22-6. Myles Leyden and Thomas Parker each scored four goals and Jared Morgan had a hat trick to help SAU move to 3-2 on the season. Danny KinnerkThomas KellyElijah Gash and Sam Kerr each had two goals in the win. The Bees led just 5-3 after one quarter and 7-4 midway through the second. Goals from Parker and Leyden closed the half, and then St. Ambrose outscored Asbury 7-0 in the third period to take a 16-4 lead. SAU scored the first four goals of the fourth on the way to the 22-6 win. Austin AdamsChris Scislowski and Jim Flavin also scored for the Bees. Leyden and Morgan each were credited with three assists; Kinnerk, Parker and Scislowski each had two; and Kelly had one. Adam Kasper came up with eight saves to get the win.

SAU Women 18, Asbury 13 - box score
St. Ambrose outscored Asbury 9-5 in the second half to pull away for an 18-13 win. A Katie Baranski goal in the final 20 seconds of the opening half gave the Bees a 9-8 lead. Following an Allie Ruggiero goal, Baranski added two more goals of her own in the first five minutes of the second half to help SAU open up a 12-8 advantage. After an Asbury goal closed the margin to three goals, Baranski tallied two more goals as part of a 4-0 run that sealed the win. Baranski finished with 10 goals, five in each half. Ruggiero added four goals. Erin Green scored twice and Mckenna Palmer and Katrina Lisowski each added a single goal. Alexis Schott came up with 16 saves, 11 in the second half, to earn the win.

March 13
SAU Women 21, Truett McConnell 7 - box score

Behind a dominating 27-8 edge in shots, St. Ambrose raced to a 16-4 halftime lead in improving to a perfect 4-0 on the year following a 21-7 win at Truett McConnell. Allie Ruggiero and Katie Baranski continued their offensive surge as the pair combined for 13 of the Bees' 21 goals. After spotting TMU an early 1-0 run, Ruggiero, Baranski and Erin Green combined for the next seven goals to give SAU a 7-1 edge. Baranski scored all six of her goals in the first half. Ruggiero had four first-half goals on her way to a team-best seven goals. Green contributed four goals. Mckenna Palmer, Sara Goeddel, McKenna Curzon and Katrina Lisowski each added one goal. Maura Healy was credited with a pair of assists and Palmer had one assist. Allison Claus came up with two saves in the first half before Alexis Schott made one save in the second half.
