SAU rally falls short in 12-10 loss at No. 7 Missouri Valley

Despite a furious second-half rally, a seven-goal halftime deficit proved too much to overcome as the Bees fell at No. 7 Missouri Valley 12-10 Friday night.

St. Ambrose got off to a slow start, falling behind 6-2 after one period and the deficit was 11-4 at the half.

SAU finally got rolling in the third quarter. Justin O'Marrah and Myles Leyden each scored to trim the margin to 12-6 entering the final quarter.

Sam Kerr and Thomas Parker each scored a pair of goals over the final 15 minutes as the Bees dominated the quarter, outshooting the Vikings 17-7. But the rally came up two goals short.

Parker led St. Ambrose with three goals. Kerr and Danny Kinnerk each netted two. O'Marrah, Leyden and Jared Morgan also scored in the loss. Chris Scislowski was credited with four assists while Leyden, Parker and Nic Calabria each picked up a single assist.

Adam Kasper, who allowed just two second-half goals, recorded 18 saves for SAU.

The Bees, now 4-4 overall and 0-1 in the KCAC, will visit conference foe Columbia Sunday night.
