Spurgetis named to CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large Team

CoSIDA Academic All-America Men's At-Large Team

Eric Spurgetis was named to the prestigious 2022 Academic All-America Men's At-Large Team, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Spurgetis, a member of the St. Ambrose men's golf team, was one of just 10 student-athletes named to the 10-member first team.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America Team is comprised of student-athletes from NAIA institutions, who are selected based on their work athletically and in the classroom. Nominees must be starters or important reserves, sophomores or older, with at least 3.30 cumulative grade point averages. The men's at-large team includes student-athletes from the following sports: bowling, competitive cheer, competitive dance, golf, lacrosse, swimming & diving, tennis, volleyball, and wrestling.

Spurgetis, from Moline, Ill., is a two-time NAIA Men's Golf National Championship participant. The two-time CCAC Golfer of the Week posted seven top-10 finishes this year, including four top-5 showings. He led the Bees with a 76.68 scoring average over 19 rounds. A two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District pick, Spurgetis graduated from St. Ambrose with degrees in Accounting and Sport Management this May.

Spurgetis is the fourth Fighting Bee to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition this year. He joins Michael Dudek (baseball) as a first team academic all-American this year. Tom Kazanecki (men's basketball) and Olivia McClintock (softball) earned second team honors.
