For the eighth time since 2009, St. Ambrose will play host to the NAIA Men's Golf Championships at TPC Deere Run. The 2022 version, cohosted by Visit Quad Cities, officially gets underway Tuesday in Silvis, Ill.
This year's 156-player field consists of 29 teams and 11 individuals. It will feature a veteran St. Ambrose team which had four of its five golfers compete at last year's championships. Returning are seniors Mick Haverland, Eric Spurgetis and Jared Tigges, and sophomore Owen Hultman, who made the 36-hole cut a year ago and was runner-up at the 2022 CCAC Championships played at Deere Run Apr. 25-26. The lone newcomer on the team is freshman Dylan McAleer.
After practice rounds Monday, the event officially tees off at 7 a.m. Tuesday. St. Ambrose will begin play at 12:10 p.m. off hole No. 10. The Bees will tee off at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday from hole No. 1. The field will be cut after the second round and a National Champion will be crowned following the fourth round Friday.
