Bees close out regular season at Hoosier Classic; assigned to Chicago Regional

The St. Ambrose men's and women's bowling teams are headed to Addison, Ill. – just outside Chicago – for this season's sectional qualifying tournament. In a live broadcast on Wednesday, the top 80 men's and women's teams in the nation were each placed in one of four sectional qualifying sites. The other qualifying sites were Smyrna, Tenn.; Allen Park, Mich.; and Fort Worth, Texas.

No more than two of the top-8 and four of the top-16 ranked teams can be placed in any sectional, in an effort to balance each sectional.

Sectionals take place March 7-9, with singles competition on Friday, March 7, followed by team competition on March 8-9. The team qualifying format is 32 baker games each day, for a total of 64 baker games, with the top four teams advancing to the Intercollegiate Team Championships in April, hosted at the South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas.

Sectionals come on the heels of the conclusion of the regular season.

It was a struggle for both teams, but the St. Ambrose men's and women's bowling teams finished the regular season at this weekend's Hoosier Classic. Hosted by Western Bowl in Indianapolis, Ind., the men and women both finished in 33rd place in their respective fields.

The Hoosier Classic is the final Tier 1 event of the season, traditionally attracting most of the top-ranked teams in the nation. The men's finish came in a field of 78 teams, while the women competed in a 66-team field.

Men's team members were Kendric Siders (1062-five games), Lucas Hersrud (1027-five games), Lucas Finley (999-five games), Tommy Burns Jr. (990-five games), Zach Greim (502-three games), Tyler Close (176-one game), Keaten Bieri (142-one game) and Nicholas Kidd.

Women's team members included Tricia Alvarado (1052-five games), Marissa Bills (1046-five games), Sammy Upham (905-five games), Delaney Walsh (634-four games), Brooklyn Schlapkohl (510-three games), Megan Nyenhuis (277-two games), Lily Murphy (110-one game) and Makenna Verdon.
