Bees can't keep up with No. 4 Tigers in 107-74 setback

Olivet Nazarene proved why it is the No. 4-ranked team in the country. The Tigers outscored the Bees 53-32 in the second half to pull away for a 107-74 win in Bourbonnais, Ill., Wednesday night.

ONU (25-2, 17-2 CCAC) shot better than 53 percent from the floor and connected on 15-of-30 3-point attempts. SAU was able to keep pace in the first half, shooting at a nearly 54-percent clip, but slumped to 34 percent (12-of-35) in the second half. The Bees also shot 50 percent from beyond the arc (11-of-22).

After leading by as many as six points in the first half, St. Ambrose allowed Olivet Nazarene to close the half on a 31-13 run to grab a 54-42 lead at the break.

Two free throws and a layup from John Kerr got the Bees to within 10 points at 56-46 four minutes into the second half, but the Tigers scored the next 15 points to break things open.

Michael Williams led St. Ambrose with 17 points, 11 of those coming in the first half. Warren Allen came off the bench to hit 7-of-11 shots to score 14 points. Kerr and Ben Schols each scored 11.

The Bees, now 15-11 overall and 11-8 in the CCAC, return home to host Indiana Northwest Saturday at 3 p.m.
