The 19 triples are the most by the Bees in game going back to at least the 2003-04 campaign.

St. Ambrose surpassed its previous season high of 13 threes made in the first half alone when the Bees were a sizzling 14-of-17 from long distance.

In that first half, Michael Williams (4-for-4) and John Kerr (3-for-3) combined for seven 3-pointers without a miss. Jake Meeske also hit three first-half threes while Dylan Kaczmarek buried a pair.

The Bees shot better from 3-point range (82.4 percent) than they did on 2-point attempts (3-of-7, 42.9 percent) over the game's first 20 minutes.

And that continued in the second half.

St. Ambrose (15-10, 11-6 CCAC) led 55-41 at the break and by as many as 17 midway through the second half before Indiana South Bend (17-8, 11-6 CCAC) made a run.

A 9-3 Titans run closed the gap to 73-62 with 6:47 left. But consecutive, what else, 3-pointers from Kerr and Ben Schols, and then a layup from Kerr pushed the lead to 81-62 with just over five minutes remaining. SAU was not threatened the rest of the way.

Kerr finished a perfect 4-for-4 on threes as part of an 8-for-9 shooting night in scoring a game-high 24 points. He also led all players with nine rebounds. Williams was 5-of-6 from beyond the arc and 7-of-10 overall in scoring 19 points. Schols came off the bench to score 15 points and Meske, who hit 3-of-6 3-point tries, added 11.

Kaczmarked hit a pair of triples in finishing with eight points. Tom Kazanecki, Cameron Kalmas and Kyle Rohr also each drilled a three.

St. Ambrose cooled off slightly in the second half, shooting just 5-of-11 from deep, but finished at 67.9 percent for the game, a better mark than the team's overall 60-percent effort from the floor (30-of-50).

SAU also got it done from the line, converting 13-of-15 free throws in the win that snapped a two-game losing streak.

The Bees will be tested at home Saturday by No. 25 Holy Cross. That will be the first of two straight games against ranked opponents as St. Ambrose will visit No. 4 Olivet Nazarene next Wednesday.
