Spring practice concludes with annual Spring Game
The St. Ambrose Football team concluded its Spring Practice Friday night with its annual Spring Game in front of a large crowd at the St. Vincent Complex.
Team White came out with a 26-5 win over the Navy squad. Team White was lead by freshman quarterback John Benckendorf who completed 17-of-25 passes for 214 yards and three touchdowns. Touchdowns were scored by sophomore J.D. Villafuerte, sophomore Michael Gerischer and junior Chris Collier.
Team White's defense was paced by sophomore defensive back Griffin Zajac, who had two interceptions while freshman defensive back Aaron Krockey added another. Team White junior defenders Dillon Valdez and Sam Kabureck each contributed two sacks apiece. Sophomore Bernard Buhake lead Team Navy with three sacks in the losing effort.
The Fighting Bees will open the 2019 season on the road at Missouri Baptist on Sept. 7 at 1 p.m.
