SAU Cheer wins inaugural AMC Championship

St. Ambrose claimed the inaugural American Midwest Conference (AMC) Competitive Cheer Championship hosted by Columbia College in the Arena of Southwell Complex in Columbia, Mo., Saturday.

And SAU did it despite an uncharacteristic slow start.

With the final-round score accounting for 75 percent of the team's total score, SAU stepped up. St. Ambrose posted a final score of 94.97 for a total of 93.14. Dickinson State couldn't keep up, earning a second-round score of 91.47 for a total of 90.49.

SAU Cheer Team members were Ava Arnold, JP Elder, Chloe Fulcher, Graysen Gerlinger, Mikal Honeycutt, Sydnee Horstman, Savanah Metzger, Patrick Nauman, Alyssa Oczko, Taye Owten, Reese Puleo, Rachel Ruplinger, Ryan Russo, Haley Scholbrock, Savannah Schumacher, Will Smith, Layla Taylor, Brady Teel and RJ Woods.
