SAU Cheer claims victory in all three Thresher Invitationals

The St. Ambrose Cheer Team continued its successful start to competition season by winning all three rounds of the Thresher Invitational hosted by Bethel in Newton, Kan., Friday and Saturday.

The Bees improved each round.

SAU won the first round Friday with a score of 94.76. That edged second-place Oklahoma City (93.23). Indiana Wesleyan placed third in the eight-team event.

Saturday, the Bees were given a score of 95.71 to win the second round, a six-team battle. Indiana Wesleyan was the runner-up with an 86.06

The final round wasn't even close. St. Ambrose posted a score of 97.10 to run away with the seven-team event. Avila (76.71) finished second.

Ava Arnold, JP Elder, Chloe Fulcher, Graysen Gerlinger, Mikal Honeycutt, Sydnee Horstman, Savanah Metzger, Patrick Nauman, Alyssa Oczko, Taye Owten, Reese Puleo, Rachel Ruplinger, Ryan Russo, Haley Scholbrock, Savannah Schumacher, Will Smith, Layla Taylor, Brady Teel and RJ Woods competed for St. Ambrose. Devyn George, Jesse Lopez and Regan Tucker were the alternates.

SAU will next compete in the Saints Showdown Mar. 1 in Grand Rapids, Mich.
