
SAU earns share of CCAC title; enters conference tourney as No. 2 seed

St. Ambrose earned a share of the regular-season conference title and will enter the upcoming CCAC Tournament as the No. 2 seed as postseason play gets underway Wednesday.
A three-way tie at the top featured St. Ambrose (25-23), Judson (28-21) and Saint Xavier (27-22) with matching 20-12 league marks. Through tiebreakers, Judson earned the top seed while St. Ambrose grabbed the two and Saint Xavier slid to the three.
The six-team, double-elimination CCAC Tournament played at Slammers Stadium in Joliet, Ill., will begin with a pair of first-round games Wednesday. Viterbo, the No. 4 seed, will play No. 5 Olivet Nazarene at 3 p.m. and then Saint Xavier will battle No. 6 Indiana South Bend at 6 p.m.
St. Ambrose will play the winner of the SXU-IUSB game at 1 p.m. Thursday, following Judson's game against the ONU-Viterbo winner at 10 a.m. Elimination games will be played at 4 and 7 p.m.
Three games will be played Friday with a conference champion getting crowned Saturday. The winner earns the CCAC's automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round May 12-15.
