Gonzalez leads St. Ambrose to 11-4 win at Olivet Nazarene

David Gonzalez finished 3-for-4 and a single away from the cycle in leading St. Ambrose to an 11-4 win at Olivet Nazarene Wednesday afternoon.

The senior center fielder doubled, tripled, homered and drove in four to help the Bees move to 5-2 in the CCAC and 8-15 overall.

Gonzalez scored four runs and reached base four times, including a walk leading off the game that led to a two-run inning. He moved to third on Kevin Zanger's double and both runners came in to score when Zach Stroman reached on an error.

An inning later, Gonzalez's RBI double keyed a four-run frame. Andrew Barreto followed with a two-run double and Matt Baldwin hit a sacrifice fly to give SAU a 6-0 lead.

After the Tigers got two runs back in the bottom of the fourth, the Bees broke things open in the top of the fifth.

Bobby Magnus had an RBI ground out before Gonzalez tripled in a pair. Gonzalez later scored on a wild pitch to push the lead to 10-2.

Gonzalez hit a solo home run to right center with one out in the eighth to complete his big day.

Zanger added two hits in the victory.

Tyler Bromer got the win, allowing three earned runs over five innings. Noah Kesselmayer earned a save after pitching four scoreless innings in relief.

St. Ambrose will next host St. Francis Thursday in a CCAC doubleheader at Modern Woodmen Park.
