Greg Wymer had himself a day.

The senior first baseman went 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs and six RBIs to lead St. Ambrose to a 17-11 win in the second game of a doubleheader at Olivet Nazarene Tuesday.

Wymer also homered in the opener, a 10-2 loss.

Wymer hit two three-run shots in Game 2, the first coming as part of a five-run fourth inning that tied the game at 8-8. In the seventh, he launched another three-run homer as part of a six-run inning that gave the Bees a 17-11 lead. Wymer also walked three times and scored three runs in the win.

The teams traded big innings throughout. David Gonzalez had an RBI triple and Andrew Barreto and Josh Hlubek had RBI singles to give St. Ambrose a 3-0 lead in the second.

Olivet Nazarene (24-16, 13-6 CCAC) responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning and plated three more in the third.

Kevin Zanger and Mike Miller each drove in a run with a two-out hit in the fourth before Wymer hit his game-tying three-run blast. An inning later, Matt Baldwin scored on a wild pitch before Zach Hart hit a two-run home run to give SAU an 11-8 lead. The Tigers answered with three runs in the bottom of the sixth, setting up the decisive seventh inning.

Tommy Goodale and Barreto were each hit by a pitch to get things started. Hlubek bunted for a hit to load the bases. Hart broke the tie by drawing a walk to score Goodale. One out later, Miller reached on an error to score two runs. Wymer then hit his three-run shot for the 17-11 lead.

Cooper Sant Amour got the win after not allowing a hit over 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Hlubek matched Wymer with three hits in the second game. Zanger, Gonzalez and Barreto each had two hits.

In the opener, Wymer's lead-off home run in the second tied the game briefly at 1-1. The Tigers scored four times in the third before a Goodale RBI single trimmed the margin to 5-2. But Olivet Nazarene came back with three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to break things open.

A pair of costly errors paved the way for the Tigers' first five runs, all unearned. Jake Sheley took the loss. Gonzalez and Hlubek each had two hits.

The Bees, now 15-23 overall and 11-7 in the conference, will play a nine-inning game at Calumet St. Joseph Thursday before playing a three-game weekend series with Roosevelt. The Lakers will host Saturday's doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. and SAU will host a single nine-inning game Sunday at 6 p.m. at Modern Woodmen Park.
