Back in action, SAU falls at No. 16 Viterbo
Playing for the first time in a week, St. Ambrose fell to No. 16 Viterbo 25-19, 14-25, 25-7, 25-15 in La Crosse, Wis., Tuesday night.
Outside of a strong second set, which saw the Bees total 13 kills against just two hitting errors, SAU struggled. St. Ambrose (8-13, 3-6 CCAC) had more errors than kills in each of the other three sets to hit just .029 for the match.
Viterbo (15-5, 9-0 CCAC) hit .257 overall.
Chloe Fabry led the Bees with eight kills. Marta Barriguinha finished with six and Hannah Krouse added four. Olivia Johnson, Alexa Orozco, Sofia Pabon and Grace Beitzel had two kills apiece.
Ines Marques posted a team-best 16 assists and shared the team lead with two aces alongside Adriana Diaz and Kennedy DeBaillie.
Diaz was the lone Bee to reach double digits in digs, finishing with 13. DeBaillie picked up six digs and Marques and Larkin Calay each had five.
St. Ambrose will look to snap its three-match losing streak Thursday night at Indiana Northwest.
