Wolter and Guerra Named Athletes of the Month; Esports Named Team of the Month
Abby Wolter (women's basketball) and Guiseppe Guerra (wrestling) were selected by the St. Ambrose Sports Information staff as the November Fighting Bees Athletes of the Month.
The Fighting Bees Esports team was named November's Team of the Month.
Wolter, a senior forward, dominated on the basketball court, averaging 19.8 points and 11.4 rebounds per game across eight contests while shooting 46.2% from the field and adding 3.4 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.1 blocks per outing. She opened the month with a 26-point double-double and went on to record seven double-doubles in eight games. Wolter earned CCAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors for her performance between Nov. 24 and Nov. 30.
Guerra, a junior from Boise, Idaho, put together a strong start to his season with a 6-1 record, highlighted by a marquee 5-4 win over the then–11th-ranked wrestler in the NAIA. His only loss came in the championship match of the 141-pound bracket at the prestigious Grand View Open, and his performance has propelled him to a No. 9 national ranking at 141 pounds. On Nov. 30, Guerra was named Heart of America Wrestler of the Week.
In the Esports program, eight of their nine teams qualified for playoffs across the seven games they offer.
- Varsity Rocket League: 1st place MVEC (undefeated regular season as well)
- JV Rocket League: Quarterfinal finalist -NECC playoffs
- Valorant: Quarterfinal Finalist- MVEC playoffs
- Varsity Super Smash Bros: Quarterfinal finalist -NECC playoffs
- Overwatch 2: 3rd place -NECC playoffs
- Rainbow 6 Siege: Quarter finalist -NECC playoffs (and were ranked in the top 20 across all collegiate teams this semester)
- Apex Legends: Semifinalist -ECAC playoffs
Each month, the St. Ambrose Sports Information Department selects a Male and Female Athlete of the Month based on their exceptional accomplishments. A Team of the Month is also chosen to recognize collective achievement across all Fighting Bees programs.
