Maximo Vasquez, Football

When the starting running back went down with an injury, Maximo Vasquez stepped right in. The junior had come up big early in the season, rushing for 131 yards and a touchdown in a 52-13 win over William Woods on Sept. 14, but once thrust into the starting lineup, he became the Bees' workhorse. Vasquez carried the ball 29 times for 89 yards and a touchdown at William Penn on Oct. 5. On Homecoming Weekend, he rushed for 136 yards and a score on 24 attempts. He followed that up with 106 yards against No. 2 Grand View. Then, against conference-unbeaten Graceland, Vasquez went for 63 yards and another touchdown. The Vinton, Iowa, native averaged more than 98 yards on the ground on nearly 23 carries per contest. He also totaled eight receptions for 49 yards and a score over those four games.
