Bees continue season at Brissman Lundeen Invite

St. Ambrose returned to action Saturday at the Brissman Lundeen Invitational at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill. The men finished third while the women took fifth.

Luke Benes earned a top-10 finish, coming in ninth in 27:23.8. Four other Bees finished inside the top 20, all crossing the finish line within eight seconds of each other. Chris Miserendino (27:49.0) was 14th overall, Ian Eller (27:49.3) was 15th, Will Dowda (27:51.1) was 17th and Noah Maske (27:57.1) was 18th.

Ross Willerth was 36th in 28:56.3 and Nathan Boleyn was 45th in 29:32.7. Tommy Ashby, Brennon Munch, Bryan Flentge, Kevin Chaney and Donnie Ingram also competed for St. Ambrose.

On the women's side, Kaitlyn Knoche continued the strong start to her collegiate career by matching Benes with a ninth-place showing. She had a time of 25:33.3.

Adeline Smith took 14th overall in 26:21.8. Merin Crowder, Allison Hein and Rylee McCrery rounded out the SAU scorers. Crowder was 33rd overall in 27:40.1, Hein was 38th in 28:20.2 and McCrery took 42nd in 28:36.8. Carlie Woolm was sixth on the time, finishing in 28:41.0. Rileigh Fortune finished in 29:15.5.

Kenzie Kaperka, Jayne Eilderts, Loryn Heil and Eileen Elenteny also raced for the Bees.

St. Ambrose will compete in the Bethel Invitational in South Bend, Ind., next Friday.
