Bees race some of NAIA's best at Great Lakes Challenge

St. Ambrose competed in the White Division of the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge, hosted by Aquinas at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Bee men took 13th of 30 complete teams running the 8K and the women finished 22nd of 26 teams in the 5K.

Luke Benes led the men. He finished 34th overall in a time of 27:14. Chris Miserendino wasn't far behind, placing 55th in 27:37.

The final three SAU scorers came in within eight seconds of each other, and all placed inside the top 100. Dayton Hauger was 85th in 28:03, Ian Eller finished 90th in 28:09 and Noah Maske was 93rd in 28:11.

Also competing for St. Ambrose were Nathan Boleyn (28:34), Ross Willerth (29:10), Bryan Flentge (29:21), Brennon Munch (29:25), Kale Cartee (29:58), Kevin Chaney (30:39), Jon Kaleka (30:40) and Donnie Ingram (31:21).

Adeline Smith continued her strong freshman campaign for the St. Ambrose women. She finished in a season-best time of 20:20 to place 38th overall. 

Rileigh Fortune was 134th in 22:15. Jayne Eilderts (23:19) and Allison Hein ended within a second of each other, and Rylee McCrery finished in a time of 25:36.

The Bees will next compete at the CCAC Championships at Channahon State Park in Channahon, Ill., on Nov. 5.
